DESIGNED WHILE AT GALLAGHER & ASSOCIATES

The Mob Museum

The Mob Museum opened in 2012. I was the lead graphic designer while at G&A on the original museum experience and still is the main visitor journey today. In 2016, the museum reached out to create and enhance parts of the museum experience, with the main focus on the first floor—telling the story of Organized Crime Today, hands-on Crime Lab, Use of Force Training experience, and adding an entire fully functional Speakeasy with a distillery in the basement level.

As the lead creative, I worked closely with the curation team to visualize and tell the story of Organized Crime Today, which focuses on the modernization and evolution of organized crime in the present day and features two new experiential spaces, Use of Force Training Experience and Crime Lab. Guests engage in intensive training that demonstrates the speed and complexity of use-of-force decisions along with discovering hands-on forensic science in the Crime Lab environment. Concepting all UI for interactives was also part of the concept phase. The Speakeasy, also known as “The Underground,” features exhibits related to the cultural history of the Prohibition era as well as the bootleggers, rumrunners, and moonshiners who ensured Americans still had access to liquor during the 13 years of federal Prohibition. I also was the lead designer of the featured aquarium fish tank, the wreckage of the Lizzie D, which was featured on the TV show Tanked.

The Underground at The Mob Museum takes the glamour of the mobster era of past and present with its liking for brewing and pouring illegal liquor during the Prohibition era.
