The National Gallery focuses on Southeast Asian art and oversees the world's largest public collection of Singaporean and regional art of the Eastern world, specifically of Southeast Asia, with a collection of more than 9,000 artworks. Through its collection, the galleries present the development of Singaporean and regional cultures—telling the story of their social, economic, and political histories. In addition to the interior design of the gallery, which makes use of warm colors and light to bring a sense of homeliness to the design, the exhibition is given a distinct museum feel from the colonial European style of the building’s architecture.
Located within the National Gallery Singapore, The Keppel Centre for Art Education is the first dedicated art education facility in Singapore and the surrounding region. The Centre occupies the ground floor of the City Hall wing and comprises four immersive and interactive environments, including Art Corridor, Project Gallery, Playscape, and Children’s Museum and Workshop, as well as art-themes interstitial spaces.
The museum has become the go-to place for Southeast Asian art and Singaporean history. The venue occupies buildings that once housed the city-state's Supreme Court and City Hall. In their place is a prime cultural center that showcases the best regional art and preserves the past.
